We have roles to play—for me, it is husband, father, friend, business person, technologist, church worker, deacon, council member, Baylor alumnus, Texan, male, homeowner, citizen…just to name a few! But how do I go from that day to day, egoic realm—where must I go in order to get in the Presence of my Lord? It is a descent, into the Temple of the Heart. This process has several elements. It means: katabasis -descent, into the holy place; enstasis -when once in the holy of holies, then maintaining a reverence or fear of the Lord-“standing up” or attention, in the center Temple of the Heart; anabasis— ascendance into the realm of the Spirit ; and transcendence —unity with the Spirit of God, where true instruction in the Word and things eternal can be transmitted then another katabasis —or descent, back to the egoic realm, where the wisdom and eternal kno
