Overcoming impatience

When life is heavy and hard to take,
go off by yourself. Enter the silence.
Bow in prayer. Don't ask questions:
   Wait for hope to appear.
Don't run from trouble. Take it full-face.
The "worst" is never the worst.

                                                  ~Lamentations 3:28-30-The Message

Lately, the most consistent and overriding message I have received in my meditation time is the simple word : “Wait”.

When I want things to change immediately, when I want to take matters in my own hands and “make something happen”, the Master quietly sits me down in my chair and says—“wait.”

… those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don't get tired, they walk and don't lag behind. Isaiah 40

I must keep at the planting and the working, knowing that if I but wait upon him, He will keep me on the path He desires…and will bestow “fresh strength”.

Wait.
